I am reviewing a very successful tv show that has been around since 2003. Even after weekly episodes stopped airing, people still continued to watch this on Netflix for many years after. This show is The Office. After watching every episode in the 9 season series I have a very good idea on the highs and lows of the show.
The Office is the number 1 most popular TV shows on Netflix with over 201 episodes. Paul lieberstein one of the characters on the show who wrote 16 of the episodes and directed 7 of them replies back “ridiculous” when asked what the streaming numbers on Netflix were.
Now, some people say that The Office is a TV show with dumb ideas and little plot which makes for a boring 9 seasons. I say that The Office has one of the most intriguing plots of any show I have ever experienced: from the constant switching of relationships, arguments, new employees and the hilarious moments it is close to never having a dull moment. But, in saying all this, like any TV show The Office has its flaws. There are a couple of episode(4 or 5 tops) where you pause, and have to say to yourself...wait what? I must admit it does have a couple of gaps such as; since when are they dating? I don’t remember hearing about any of this before!
For those of you reading who haven't watched The Office and are trying to get a sense of whether this is how you should spend your time procrastinating, here's a rundown on the show. It is all based on the employees of a paper company in a small town in Pennsylvania. They have an idiot for a boss and a strong lack of work ethic which makes for funny pranks and jokes they do to distract themselves from their job. Once you start to get into it you truly start to get to know the characters and even feel as if you know they quite well as a friend. This makes the characters much more relatable and you will definitely indulge in some laugh out loud moments.
In 2018 there was a list produced of the 10 most downloaded seasons on Netflix. 7 out of the 10 were the office. All in all, The Office is a show I can promise you will not regret watching and don't be surprised when you see yourself going back to rewatch.
