It's My Blyth is a student-led page for news and reviews. From sports to games, we aim to write about the latest events from around the world! Each article has been written by a Blyth Academy Burlington student, and has been carefully crafted to meet the wants and needs of our readership. Please enjoy all that It's My Blyth has to offer!

Mr. Cohen is a huge fan of all things Fantasy - Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are his favourites, but he spends most his time playing Zelda or Witcher 3. He is a gaming journalist, and has started to write his own Fantasy novel too!

Oh, you're looking for Clare? Well, If it's a good day, she will be reading on the beach that she lives near, and if it’s a bad day, I'm sure you could find her writing poetry in her room with her two black cats: Betty and Bear.
Alessandro Russo
I enjoy writing novels and short stories, I also like doing art, preferably digital art. I am currently writing a novel that in the next couple of months will be posted onto my website. When I’m not writing or doing art I’ll be online playing some of my favourite video games, (Super Mario Odyssey, Valorant, and so much more) or trying to learn about software development (coding games).
Kane Yeomans
When I write I like to write about fictional scenarios like the apocalypse or stories involving adventure. My favorite things to do are Skiing and Volleyball, I’ve been skiing since I was 3 and playing volleyball since I was 10. When I want to do something lazy I play video games; my personal favourites are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Kaitlin Bountas
Kaitlin is a huge fan of fictional story telling. Writing, reading, watching: all of these are some of Kaitlin’s favourite ways to escape from reality. Kaitlin also loves sport, Kaitlin boxes and is working her way towards her first amateur fight. Kaitlin also loves to travel all around the world!
Ben Howden
Ben’s favourite thing to do in his free time is to game. However when winter comes he becomes a FIS level snowboarder and makes this Will Howden boy look like a joke. Most importantly he’s the number one bacon connoisseur in the world.
Ella Morash
Ella loves to share her opinions and ideas through the written word. Ella loves all things political and inspirational. In her spare time she likes to ski and read. She loves to write about her surroundings, such as the mountains and nature. Current global events also spike her intertest. Bye now, gotta go hit the slopes!
Sama Augla
Sama had no idea what to write for this blurb, but one thing she could bring up no matter the circumstance is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and Captain America: The First Avenger are her favourites. She could talk about them for hours, and she has. Sama began her journey to rewatch all the Marvel Studios movies and shows (in order of release) in August.
Isla Campbell
Isla likes to write, she loves almost all types of writing. You can tell she likes to write because she’s writing this while fighting her friend from editing it and having hiccups! Along with writing, Isla loves sports. Especially tennis, so in her writing you might find few references to it?
Sebastian Bozzo
Sebastian is a friendly 16-year-old boy who enjoys playing baseball whenever he is not in school. He also enjoys spending time with friends, fishing, and playing video games. He watches a lot of sports and is a big supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Edmonton Oilers.
Nala Cyriac
As a student at Blyth Academy, Nala loves Art, English, reading and writing. Her favourite books are Game of Thrones and Pride and Prejudice. She has a few pets, two dogs (Chloe and Kai) and a turtle named Keanu (he is a Reeves Turtle). She is a competitive equestrian that competes on the A circuit. Nala loves to ride and compete with her partner, Q Fever Van De Kwade Heyde (Heydee). Nala and Heydee hope to compete at high levels one day and even show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair soon.
Drit Zhubi
Drit loves to write about video games! He also will often write about movies which he enjoys.
Will Howden
Will is a competitive snowboard racer, and he is a big fan of The Witcher series. Will has gone to a multitude of national championships and even won the provincial championships in 2022. In his free time he plays games and goes to skateparks.
Lizzie Delorraine
Heya! I’m Lizzie and I’m in 8th grade, that’s the most you need to know. Outside of going to school and being an eensy bit annoying to my friends I have a bunch of other hobbies. I’m an aspiring musician and a mediocre guitarist at best, but I’m also a massive gym rat. I’m not much of a reader but some of the books I’ve read are Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, written by J.K Rowling, and The Blackthorn Key, written by Kevin Sands. But I’d be happy to listen to some recommendations.
Remy Kofman
Writing is something I have been into since fifth grade. I enjoy spending my time being with friends and reading. Many of my stories will be vaguely inspired by many of the books I read. Plus, my friends give me ideas and sometimes become Fantasy-based characters.

Niya Christensen
Hello, my name is Niya Christensen. Writing has always been a passion of mine and a hobby. I'm in grade 12 and use my free time reading, writing, and spending time with friends. My favorite genres are action and adventure because you never know the next adventure. In addition, I love dogs and traveling. This March break I traveled to Rome!
Sami Whittall
Sami’s creative writing is written with feeling and passion, like most things Sami does. She likes to keep her writing almost as interesting as her. She hates using colons and semi colons, but puts one here and there to hopefully get a better English mark. They just remind her of real colons. Not cute. She enjoys Shakespeare tragedies, and thinks they are comedies. Sami enjoys them almost as much as she likes chocolate.
Camryn Durante
Music has been a continuous passion for Camryn throughout her entire life. With so many different genres out there today, it is so easy for Camryn to talk about the various differences and joys that come with listening, producing and playing the music that we hear on a daily basis. She is the go to person to read about the fundamentals of music, and her notes are not always done in the classroom.
Anessa Christensen
Anessa Christensen, an average student by day and astounding artist by night… Anessa takes it upon herself to allow for the world to be her canvas, drawing, painting and, sculpting anything; everything in her path. All pathways leading to It’s My Blyth, of course…
Cameron McLean
Cameron is the embodiment of a typical curly haired white boy. He knows how to make a five course meal and do your taxes, but that curly hair hides his wild side. From video games, to shredding snow, and being more qualified to be president than Trump, he really is everything you can ask for. You can never really tell if he’s being serious, there’s so much sarcasm and humour hidden in everything he has to say; when it comes down to it, Cameron knows what has to be done, and will surely get the job done. Some say he can travel through time, as he always seems to do the right thing, the first time, everytime.
Abby Jansen
This is Abby. Abby is your stereotypical theatre kid and the epitome of good musical taste. If she says it’s good then it’s good. Abby can also recite the entire Starbucks menu - one of her many talents - and will judge you for not liking Starbucks...low key, though. Abby has many passions in life; musical theatre being one of the strongest. Most of her writing will probably be reviews of shows; they could possibly make the actors cry (if they’re bad - and reading a random high school blog). Aside from that, Abby’s a pretty nice person: just don’t be untalented - or else.
Matt Denneny
Adventurous. Creative. Wild. These words perfectly describe Matt. The outdoors have always intrigued Matt due to its beauty, as well as its mysteries. Whether it’s taking a stroll through a forest or biking down rigorous mountainsides, the outdoors is a home away from home to Matt.
Emily Mack
Emily loves reading and writing. Her favourite books include historical fiction and articles about science. Her writing interests include literary analysis and topics related to biology and ecology. She is fascinated with other countries and cultures and hopes to visit Europe, Australia and even Iceland one day. Emily is currently Vice President of the Student Council.
Nathalie Boal
Nathalie is an aspiring writer who enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and reviews. Inspired by her love for music, she is an avid songwriter who plays a variety of instruments such as guitar, piano, and bass. Nathalie is constantly watching old horror movies, and loves scary stories: specifically Stephan King novels.

Maya is a very dark and mysterious writer. She writes about things that most normal people find odd or disturbing.

Hi, my name is Simon. I am a human who is in grade twelve at Blyth. I predominately write fiction stories: Sci-Fi or medieval with a touch of fantasy. Short stories have become more present, though I do still focus on "books". Mainly reshaping ones that I've already made.
Maria Luísa Arruda De Faria
Passionate about art, history, social issues, and basically anything but Math, Maria always puts her opinions and dramatics into her writing. From her, you can expect articles about books, movies, and music - always looked at through a critical and analytical lens. When she’s not educating people on climate change and inequality, you can find her reading Harry Potter and listening to Taylor Swift.
Lauren Pearson
“To be or not to be, that is the question”- Hamlet
In addition to the occasional Shakespeare reference, Lauren prefers to articulate her literary works through the genre of nonfiction. Topics to be mentioned from Lauren are not limited to a set structure due to her indecisiveness. In the future, Lauren hopes to attend university and study within the realm of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). In her spare time, she enjoys getting to meet with any dog in sight. Brooke Morgan
Hi, I'm Brooke. I am in grade 9 and have just recently found an interest in creative writing, and writing in general! I love writing about all different kinds of topics, but my main interests include fantasy and fiction at the moment. My favourite book so far is a book I am reading with Mr Cohen: "Lord of the Rings", and my favourite movie is "The Fifth Wave".
Mrs. Lilliman
Fundamentally, Ms. Lilliman can't write. That's why she's a math teacher. Occasionally, Ms. Lilliman does dabble in writing and has a blog, "AnnasJewishThoughts". She has travel blogs (about walking through Hamilton), religious essays, random poems, and speculation on child rearing. Ms. Lilliman does write a tacky math joke on her white board (right under her goals and learning criteria) daily and hopes that you count on her if you need a bad math pun...
