Everywhere you turn there is some type of Apple product being displayed. Either the newest phone, watch or computer. The way Apple markets their products, you can’t compare your current phone to their most recent. A classic case of FOMO (fear of missing out). Most people that you know have at least one Apple product, but if asking why, usually they say “my friends really recommends it, it’s such a good product,” but really no one knows why. I guarantee if you asked people you knew, why they have an Apple product, they wouldn’t describe anything technical they will reply with “it is so fast...the camera quality is amazing…it just looks nicer.”
Past
My first phone was an iPhone, because all my friends were getting the finest iPhones for there 13th birthday. I couldn’t wait until I got mine. I was ready to transform from a boring seventh grader with no phone to a popular seventh grader with a phone. Everything was working smoothly with my new phone until came summer…
I got a total of 4 new phones that year because each would break down or would crack extremely easily. I visited the Apple Store so many times they knew my name. But for some reason I thought it was a good idea to keep buying new phones.
Present
Currently I am 17 and still have the iPhone 6S. I like the look, and the camera, but after a year of having this phone it is already starting to lag. The glass screen has a crack all along the top and the inside of the ringer button is extremely dirty. I would go get my glass fixed but there is an additional charge for Apple “care” ad half the time they can’t help or is costs you more money to fix something because “it wasn’t the products fault.”
Future
Soon I know I will be old enough to have to buy my phone and I’m dreading it. Descent iPhone costs are around $500, the newest phone with the best features are going for $1000. Thinking how many hours I need to work just to have enough to buy a phone and have money saved to live off of, is scaring me.
Census
Furthermore, putting aside all the things that can be changed, I still really enjoy my phone. Since all my friends have an iPhone, it is easy to stay in touch with them and accessible for everyone to be included. New group chats are made every day usually with the same people just different topics for each chat. You can facetime with anyone from around the world there are no limitations. iPhone is an excellent and effortless product that has made me connect with people a lot easier.
