Friends. One of the best sitcom comical TV series of all time. A blend of characters that are all completely different but tend to find themselves in New York, al a group of amazing friends. This Tv series ran from 1994-2004; true tragic tragedy that it had to come to an end. Each main character on the show has the exact same amount of screen time as well, 236 episodes each.
The Cast
Within the first episode all main characters are introduced. To start there is Joey(Matt LeBlanc), Monica(Courtney Cox), Chandler(Matthew Perry), Ross(David Schwimmer), and Phoebe(Lisa Kudrow). There all sitting in a coffee shop chatting when all of a sudden Rachel runs in wearing a marvellous wedding dress, she’s crying. She runs to Monica and it’s assumed they were friends prior but drifted away after college. Rachel(Jennifer Aniston) has run away on her wedding day. Already they begin to catch up, Rachel explains her life now, she moves in with Monica. Trying to make a life for herself in New York, no more crying to her father for money, or running to her fiancé when she’s in trouble. After she moves in the show is set, and they all begin to connect with each other.
My Personal Favourite
Personally, my favourite character would be Joey. He’s very sweet and always thinks with his heart, not necessarily his brain. He loves to eat, sleep, and well he’s one of the most easy going characters in the show, aside from Phoebe. On the show Joey is an actor, that plays an actor, which personally I think is adorable. Throughout the series Joey also develops a personal connection with you, as he’s getting more and more experience with relationships, and bills he begins to grow up becoming more of an adult.
Within the show the characters always find themselves at the same coffee house, this allows for there waiter to be introduced. Mainly Gunther(James Michael Tyler) is their waiter. We discover little things about this character throughout the show, for example he doesn’t love what Chandler is known for, sarcasm. And he speaks fluent Dutch. We also discover he’s in love with Rachel. She obviously doesn’t feel the same way but we get to know Gunther based off of little introductions to him since he never fully introduces himself.
Important Settings
Throughout the show majority of the characters hangout in the coffee house- Central Perk- and Monica’s place. These two places are where you commonly will see all the characters together. Especially at the beginning of an episode. It’s made throughout the show that Monica’s place is a “home” for everyone. All characters are completely comfortable with just “popping over” even though Monica is said to be very anal about people just popping over.
The Theme Song
The most important thing in a TV series is the theme song. It plays at the beginning of each episode and is supposed to catch your attention. If you take Friends for example the theme song is amazing, there’s even a part which I clap at every time. The song isn’t too long; it’s catchy, it gets me excited to watch the show.
After 10 short seasons Friend’s comes to an end. The final episode is one of the saddest most emotional— minutes you will ever experience. Rachel and Ross finally agree to start a life together, even with all of their history you learn throughout the show. Chandler and Monica also start a life together. Throughout the seasons is shown that Monica and Chander won’t we able to have kids, they end up deciding to adopt, In the last episode there’s an unexpected twist where they end up with twins. Pheobe and Joey are there as well. They empty out the apartment and it’s shown that there all in this empty room, they all leave their keys and walk away to the coffee house and then head out. This helps show that all the characters are heading there separate ways and starting their own lives. This show made me laugh, smile and cry: hands down the best sitcom ever made, 10/10.
