Have you been playing first-person-shooters lately? Well then you’re going to love the all-new Black Ops 4 which is a Call of Duty Series game: undoubtedly one of the few game series to remain popular after many years.  The game was developed by Treyarch who have developed games including, but not limited to: NHL 13,  a few Spiderman games and Over 10 Call of Duty games! The Treyarch developed game is an action packed first person shooter with many different game modes and customizable options in-game.  Black Ops 4  is the fourth game in the Black Ops Series and the 16th Call of Duty game.  The game is due to initially release on October 12th 2018.

The publishers, Activision, have decided to release the game a bit early this year. It will be releasing sometime in October rather than the normal November schedule they have always carried. The game retails at $59.99 and can be bought at any local Gamestop or EB Games.  The initial release comes with many different game modes. Game modes such as: ‘Search and Destroy’, ‘Free-for-All’, the well-known ‘Team Deathmatch’ and many more! In Search and Destroy there are 2 teams of 6, an attacking team and a defending team. After each round, the teams switch; attacking become defending and defending becomes attacking.  The attacking team attempts to plant the bomb at either site ‘a’ or site ‘b’ and secure the bomb to not allow the defending team to defuse the bomb. If the bomb is planted the defending team must eliminate the players or attempt and sneak their way through the team and defuse it. However, if the bomb isn’t planted then the defending team takes the victory for that round. Carrying the bomb is a pretty risky situation as once the person carrying the bomb is killed the bomb drops and anyone on the attacking team is free to pick it up.  The attacking team could also strategically decide to eliminate all the opponents to guarantee the victory that round. ‘Free-for-All’ is pretty self explanatory. 12 people in a game and it's every man for himself, first one to get to 30 points (kills) wins the game. ‘Team Deathmatch’ is undoubtedly the most popular game mode throughout the Call of Duty Series.  Over 40% of people who buy the game have ‘Team Deathmatch’ as their go-to gamemode.

Essentially, it is 2 teams of 6 and the teams are created random just like any other game mode to avoid ‘broken matchmaking’.  It is chaotic game mode with both teams running full throttle at each other attempting to reach that 100 points first which just like before, means first to 100 kills. The game is very tactical as a team, you must create a strategy; if you want to go and play the objective, go ahead, if you want to go for the eliminations, go ahead, if you want to split up, go ahead.  I wouldn't recommend the last one though, as you could get ‘picked off’ one by one. One person against a whole team won’t end up too well.

Many new features have been added into the game such as manual healing, different operators (characters) and a new storyline.  However, nothing compares to the brand-new game mode Blackout!  Blackout is a Battle Royale game mode where 80 players fall out of a helicopter and onto an island, then attempt to loot and med-up as quick as possible to avoid the storm. The storm is a the circumference of the map, which gets smaller and as the circle gets smaller the players are more commonly encountered at close-range making the game much more hectic.  The last man standing is awarded a ‘Victory Royale’ which is just a stat. Nothing more, nothing less. Conversely, you could show off about how many wins you have to your friends though.

Even nowadays, the Call of Duty franchise has received so much popularity, and continues to receive so much popularity that there are professional ESport tournaments hosted with the winner going home with a large sum of money. Tournaments such as: Call of Duty XP, Call of Duty Championship, MLG and UMG. These are tournaments with over $8.5 million in winnings. Which leaves the winner with over $500,000 dollars!

In conclusion, the game has thrived in the past and should continue to thrive and attract more and more users as the years go by.
