The dangers in The Mines of Moria

They arrived at the Moria Gate. “What does the writing on the door say?” said Pippin. Legolas only whispered to Gandalf “The door says we must sacrifice a member of our group to the water.” With no one replying to Pippin, he decided to start skipping rocks against the water. Gandalf noticed a dark creature with red eyes and wings swarming to wherever the rock landed. Knowing that no one would sacrifice themselves Gandalf lifted his staff and created a gust of wind; it pushed all members of the Fellowship towards the wall but caused Pippin to fall in the water.

All the members of the Fellowship tried to run towards Pippin. As they saw the monstrous creature get closer to him. The creature devoured Pippin and disappeared into the dark. The wind suddenly stopped and the Moria Gate opened. With the Fellowship in silence Legolas and Gandalf proceeded into The Mines of Moria; a light sparked from Gandalf’s staff. With every step Gandalf could hear the grind, shatter and crumble of bones.

They saw a shadow forming. Suddenly, multiple shadows formed, creating skeleton-like figures with red eyes, the Fellowship was watching skeletons come back to life and form in front of them. The skeletons started to slowly walk towards the Fellowship, Strider and Legolas drew their weapons and got ready to fight. In the distance they heard a demonic screech. Frodo managed to make out the words “first, dead, and disease.” The skeletons turned around and ran towards the voice.

“What was that?” Said Frodo, asking Gandalf.

He replied, “I’ve only heard legends of him. His name’s Xekathun, first ruler of the graves. He released a disease thousands of years ago which brings those who died back to life in a skeletal form.”

“I don’t really want to be here anymore..” Said Merry.

The Fellowship was scared but continued forward. They slowly heard the voice get louder, it eventually became head-splitting. The Fellowship suddenly fainted, and woke up 3 hours later, they were in an area of which none of them knew, they continued to hear the voice of Xekathun and he rose from the darkness. A group of skeletons followed, the Fellowship thought this was the end…
