Starbucks: the worst place to visit, enough said.

The Cost

If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck do not attend Starbucks. This “coffee house/cafe” Is extremely overpriced and you do not get what you pay for. I’m mind blown as to  how Starbucks has been around for so long, since 1971… Really? Thank you Gordon Bowker, Jerry Baldwin, and, Zev Siegle( the founders of Starbucks).

The least expensive product on the menu is a tall seasonal tea, $2.75. Insane. Especially when considering all you get is hot water, they don’t even let you keep the tea bag. “Yes I’d like some hot water with a little bit of flavour, please ” ,“perfect that’ll be $2.75.” How crazy? Additionally, you put in everything yourself: there’s milk on a table, cream also located on the table, and, sugar or brown sugar. But these products sit out for way too log. Once I went there to study for an exam I was there for like 5 hours and no one came to change the milk sitting in the warm room. Would you want to drink that? If you go to somewhere such as Mcdonald’s, for example you can get an XL tea, you get 2 tea bags and they’ll add exactly what you want, free of charge. Also if you want milk or cream on the side, perfect we’ll keep it in the fridge where it should be until we need to use it.

Let’s say you go to Starbucks everyday. Depending on the size and drink you order, you’ll spend, on average, anywhere between $3.43-$4.43. Now that’s just minimum, people will spend up to $7 on a drink. If you're ordering a tall drink it's costing you, on average, $3.34 daily, $1,221 annually and $6,105 over 5 years! A Grande drink? $4.10 daily, $1,459 annually and $7,295 over 5 years. A Venti? $4.43 daily, $1,577 annually and a whopping $7,885 over 5 years. Now, that’s a lot of money to be spending on coffee.

The Sizes

In addition the sizes are extremely confusing. Just when you think you’ve ordered a large, because you said ”tall,” assuming large you get a small in return. And I’m sure that it’s not just me this happens to; when I don’t know the names and mess up I’m always corrected when I’m not wrong. If I want a medium coffee why can’t I just ask for a medium coffee? What ever happened to the regular small medium, large, and, extra large?

Employment

Lastly the employee’s are treated ridiculously. Nearly every customer decides to customize their order. Adjust just to their standards. “Hi sir I’d like to order a grande latte: half foam, extra hot, cinnamon ontop, and can you substitute coconut milk for the regular milk.” Could you imagine, that’s pretty much every order. And we all know that barley even changes the drink order, why not just keep it simple?

The Menu

The menu is stressful. Each item can be customize, and there’s so many options. Starbuck’s even has a secret menu, not one they advertise that apparently you can order of. Could you imagine memorizing all of that?

I’m not suggesting you quit going to Starbucks, I am suggesting you watch what you’re spending. There are so many better options and aside from the logo; Starbucks coffee isn’t even that great. There are much cheaper options for something as simple as coffee. Somewhere like Mcdonalds offers deals where every 7th coffee is free, and the coffee is half the price anyways.

But, if Starbucks truly is for you I send my condolences...my rating 1/10.
