South Beach Miami

The sun beats down on South Beach, Miami. The people are bustling and there is a faint sound of the ocean in the distance. Everywhere you go, the palm trees tower overhead reminding you that you are in a tropical state.

The atmosphere of South Beach is invigorating. The energy pushes you to explore the area and everything it has to offer. The best places to go are: The Holocaust Museum, which opened on February 4, 1990, Lincoln Road, which is an outdoor strip mall home to all of your favourite shops and cafés, and of course the infamous Miami Beach.

The people in South Beach are typically very friendly. Large crowds of teenagers make their way to various shops or the beach; adults chat and browse through stores. The salespeople inside the stores put on their best faces and quickly tell you all about the different promotions hoping you’ll get excited and want to purchase the latest item.

If you love the history side of things, take a trip to some of the art deco buildings. Miami was officially considered a city in 1915 and one look at the colourful buildings show how beautiful “old Miami” has been adapted into modern-day time. Another amazing cultural experience would be to visit Little Havana. If you are looking to experience the Latin American food or art this is the place to be. At night, it comes to life with the best music, food, and entertainment! Absolutely incredible.

When I spent a couple days in South Beach, I had the opportunity to take the hop on hop off bus and visit some of the key places I mentioned above. I had such an amazing time relaxing at the resort but also visiting the historical points of the city (ie. The Holocaust memorial).

Personally, I believe anything planned for a day in South Beach will leave you having an out of body experience. Returning is a priority. There just isn’t enough time in one day to experience and explore all of the amazing places the city has to offer… No matter what time of day or season you go, the people will always welcome you with open arms and do their best to give you one of the greatest days of your life.
