ONE OF THE BEST PSYCHEDELIC ROCK ALBUMS: THE WEATHER, BY POND

Headspace: The one word that corresponds perfectly with this album. The Weather opens so much of your brain to fresh new sounds that are created beautifully, all by a small Australian band known as Pond.

Straight from Perth, Pond revolutionized who they were to the world when they released this album. The Weather not only walks around the genres of Pop and Rock, but compiles all the best things about Psychedelics into one of the weirdest things that I have ever listened to.

Given an odd rating of 7.7 on Pitchfork, this flawed review states the album “...does derail—several times, in fact.” I believe this to be incorrect, due to the fact that its atmosphere is one that is easy listening. From this, it is able to get creative and fun within the listener's mind. It can be interpreted by the many different people who are able to listen to it, and in countless different ways. That is what psychedelic albums are all about. Imagination.

With this, it is evident that, through their use of synthesizers and the hypnotizing oddity of lead singer Nick Allbrook, it can lead the listener into new dimensions. My personal favourite song is the actual title of the album (The Weather). It takes you through what it is like to desire someone and live through the nightly experience of partying and falling for someone who you will probably never see again.

Pond demonstrates that even though Psychedelics can be interpreted as something from the time period of the 60s: there are new formations of it coming out in this day and age. Pond demonstrates beautiful sounds inspired by the people who have come before their time. This band helps people open up to a new genre of music and can support them in becoming so inspired by something new within their life through listening to this album.
