“Bobby… where is all of our mail from this morning?” said Linda from across the hall. She had been going frantic, but Bob was much worse. He had already obtained the mail in desperation of finding out if his shop is going to able to go to his kids or not.

Bob was shaking with nerves as he examined the piece of paper in front of him. This was it: this was going to tell him whether or not he was in it for the long run.

He read the words over and over again… congratulations, congratulations.

“Yes...yes!” He exclaims, getting up from his chair.

“Bobby… what is going on?” Linda asks, entering into the kitchen.

“It’s over Linda… over! One of the kids is going to be able to run the shop for us! Everything is in place and I cannot wait!” He starts, shoving all of the papers for his wife to examine a second time.

“Kids you better get in here right now!”

In that moment: Tina, Louise and Gene enter the kitchen. Bob and Linda look at their three children in complete admiration.

“Now” Bob begins, rubbing his hands together in excitement. “Which one of you thinks that you are able to take on the task of becoming the manager of Bob’s Burgers?”

“Oh dad don’t be ridiculous” Louise starts, shoving him off. “We all know you and I have a relationship unlike any other. Look… I love you and all, but you know I am the one who should truly be running this place.”

Louise looks to her other two siblings, figuring she had won the battle already.

“Father!” Gene exclaims, shoving Louise and stepping in front of her.

“I am the most capable person here to be running such an institution. The place is amazing and I know that your heart will go out to me-” “Gene… is that chocolate on your face?” Linda interrupts.

Gene rubs it away.

“Really...chocolate for breakfast? Where did you even get chocolate from?” Linda exclaims, folding her arms in confusion.

“I have my ways… back to the point! Dad, I know you know that I am the most worthy person for the position of manager. Give it to me!” Gene backs away, bowing to his dad as he does so.

Tina was the only one to remain, staying silent the entire time. She waits patiently for a turn to speak her opinion. Bob looks to his oldest daughter, waiting for an answer.

“I think I should be manager” she states simply.

Bob looks at her in perplexity.

“Is that it? No begging or reasoning as to why you feel like you deserve to be manager?” “Easy Bobby-” Linda starts, but he interjects.

“No Tina, I deserve a better answer than that. Why? Why do you want it?”

“I just think it  would be great. I love a good challenge and I think this would be my favourite one to take on” Tina finishes, an awkward smile on her face.

Louise scoffs and Gene rolls his eyes at Tina.

Who does she think she is? They both thought.

“No Tina I’m sorry but that simply isn’t good enough.” Bob says, shaking his head at her answer.

“But dad-” “You’re not going to be manager whatsoever Tina. Just forget about it.”

“Bobby please-”

“No Linda! Stay out of this. It’s my restaurant so it is therefore my decision.”

Tina, now visibly upset, shouts: “Whatever! I never wanted to be manager of your stupid restaurant anyway!”

She runs off, Linda chasing after her. Gene and Louise are now aware that only one of them is  going to be running the burger joint.

“Congrats” Bob starts, “One of you will be running the family business starting Monday and-”

Bob continued on with this decision, his two kids having large mischievous smiles planted on both of their faces.
