Hamlet meets Fortnite

On a dark and gloomy Friday night Hamlet sat on the edge of his bed in the dark, in front of his TV. He put his Astro 350 headset on; picked up his custom SCUF controller and invited Polonius to join him in a game of Fortnite Battle Royale. Within seconds of the invitation being sent, Polonius joined the party.  When Hamlet got the notification saying Polonius had joined, he was ecstatic:  “Hey man, wanna muck some Fort?”, asked Hamlet Polonius replied with: “Of course dude! But we have a problem, duos aren’t available for the night so...so...uhhhh, what was I going to say? Oh never mind!” Hamlet laughs under his breath and asks: “Were you going to say we’re going to have to form an alliance?”

Polonius perks up, “Yes! You took the words right out of my mouth!, Ready up bro.” Both Hamlet and Polonius ready up and are redirected to the Fortnite Lobby.

On the other side of town, King Fortinbras joins the same Fortnite lobby as Hamlet, Polonius, Ophelia, Laertes, Claudius, King Hamlet, The Queen, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern. Only 10 seconds into King Fortinbras’ arrival in the Fortnite lobby, he spots a dark voyager. King Fortinbras instantly leaves the lobby quitting the game. You see, a few weeks ago, King Fortinbras was in a game of Fortnite Battle Royal and when he made it to the final 2, he was shot and killed by King Hamlet, who got in an airplane and camped in the air the whole game until there was one person left. King Fortinbras got very upset at this and raged so bad that he smashed his TV! After that game, he vowed to never play in a game with King Hamlet again.

The countdown begins for the take-off of the battle bus and all the players line up. 10...9...8…”I’m going to take this win man, just watch!” says Hamlet to Polonius over the microphone. 7...6...5...4…”Where are we dropping?” asked Polonius. 3...2…1...”Tilted!” yells Hamlet as he drops off the bus. Soaring through the air towards Trump Towers, Hamlet spots his father and Claudius in an early game battle. Neither King Hamlet or Claudius had a shield and King Hamlet didn’t even have a weapon yet. The only thing Claudius had were three stink bombs; he knew if he got Hamlet in the right spot, he could poison him with all three of these stink bombs. Claudius began hitting every piece of wood in sight. This was not the first time he poisoned someone using stink bombs. As King Hamlet opened a chest underground in Tilted Towers, Claudius ran up on him, built a box around him, and before closing him fully into the box, he threw the 3 stink bombs into the box King Hamlet was trapped in. Within 5 seconds, Hamlet got a notification: “King Hamlet has been eliminated by Claudius.” It was at this moment that Hamlet knew he needed to find Claudius and kill him.

Once Hamlet had a decent loadout, he began sprinting towards Dusty Depot. Hamlet knew that Claudius enjoyed sniping people because he played with him in previous matches. Using his prior knowledge, Hamlet kept a close eye out for very tall buildings that Claudius could be hiding in. Sure enough, as Hamlet approached Dusty Depot, he spotted a 10 story building. Hamlet was positive Claudius was in this tower. He snuck up to the building so that the person in the tower wouldn't hear him; took out his chug jug pickaxe and began breaking down the tower from the base. Seconds following the explosion of the newly broken tower, Polonius fell from the sky to his death. “Why’d you do that man? You know I’m terrible at this game and just camp out the whole time!” exclaimed Polonius over the microphone.

“I’m so sorry dude, I was 100% sure Claudius was in that tower sniping,” said Hamlet. Polonius was so upset, he replied with “Whatever dude. Eazy!” and disconnected from the match.

Following the accidental murder of Polonius, Ophelia was looting a broken down building in Pleasent Park when she was distracted and disturbed by the notification she received: “Polonius has been eliminated by Hamlet.”  Ophelia didn’t know how to feel. She was devastated. She dropped all of her inventory on the floor in the broken down house she was in and began sprinting towards the tallest hill she could see. Once Ophelia found a mountain tall enough to meet her needs, she began building up to the top of the mountain. When she got to the top she rocked on the edge. “Should I jump?” she asked herself. It was at this moment that she slipped and fell to her death.

At paradise palms, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were running around building walls in front of each other to stop one another from getting ahead.  This was a form of horseplay and it was all for fun. As they made their way up the hill, still playing around, they encountered Hamlet. Hamlet instantly built a one by one with a ramp for protection as he wasn’t sure who these individuals were. When he saw two skull skins, he instantly escaped out the back of his one by one; made his way towards the superhero mansion where he knew the King of England would be and gave him the “finger guns” emote to send him on a mission to eliminate Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Hamlet knew that the King of England was really good with a sniper and could kill them off with 1 heavy bullet to the head, each. The King of England made his way up the stairs to the attic of the superhero mansion and used one of the windows to spot Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Luckily, they were both still playing around and not paying attention. Bang! “Rosencrantz has been eliminated by the King of England” read the feed. Bang! “Guildenstern has been eliminated by the King of England” read the feed only 4 seconds after the first bang. Hamlet dropped the King of England two half pots of the shield as a thank you and proceeded on his mission to get the victory royale.
