I was minding my own business in the Old Forest, my home. The beautiful scent of the water lilies, the lovely sound of the water from the river rippling down stream, the birds chirping lovely songs when the sun wakes up, and most lovely of all, THE CHARRED WOOD FROM YEARS AGO WHEN THEM NASTY LITTLE GREMLINS BURNT A HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR LOVELY FOREST! Ever since that dreadful day I like to play around with any wanderers that happen to stroll through my lovely forest. Yup, I am the oldest here in the Old Forest, they call me the Old Grey Willow-Man. When them little “big men” or the even littler Hobbits happen to wander through my forest we (referring to me and my other tree friends) like to play games with them like seeing how many of them we can trip with our roots or how long we can keep them in the forest by making fake paths or even how many of them little Hobbits we can fit in our cracks; that’s a fun one.
I would keep talking but the other birds are chirping away meaning that we might have some contenders in the forest, I like to keep quiet but don’t hesitate to make a little noise like snapping or dropping a branch or two. I heard that we got four weeny hobbits and we tripped two of them and they think one of them had a brownie in their little Hobbit pants, ha-ha-ha, I haven’t seen one of those in a while I can tell you that for sure, ha-ha-ha.
I can hear them mumbling to themselves, they’re coming close I tell you. Here they are, I’ll try to drop a stick one that curly haired one, oh yeah, I scared him pretty good! Hmmm, they look very tired. Maybe one of them will come close enough for me to grab him and throw him into the water. Oh look one of them is sleeping by the water, I am going to try to topple him in. SPLASH! Ha-ha! I got him and they don’t even believe that a “great old Willow Tree would do it” ha-ha-ha, I haven’t had such a great time like this for a long while. “Can’t go another step without rest, Must have nap. It’s cool under the willows. Less Flies!” One of the Hobbits were saying. If one or two of them come to the right side of my trunk they’ll have the time of their lives! They’re all falling asleep, and two moved to the perfect spot, I’m going in, I’m bringing them in. Wow that was one the quietest ones I have done and the other Hobbits did not even notice.
Oh-oh, now they noticed and the Hobbits inside are awake now, Phil the Blue Jay where are you going, hey Phil come back! I’m not finished with them, Phil! Come back and talk some more…
