I have now been travelling for 2 days; I have not seen any sign of property since I have left Hobbiton. I was sent by Gandalf to keep track of Frodo while he was down South, but he did not say why. I was to report on where Frodo, Sam and Pippin were going and where they were staying, and so forth.
I have not seen them now since I crossed the ferry over to Brandy Hall, I kept on foot anyway heading Eastwards as I knew where they were going. One point, during the pleasureless walk, not knowing where to find them, came a sound of distant singing, in which I could not make out the voices. I followed.
As I came nearer, I heard Sam’s voice with what I assumed was Frodo’s and Pippin’s, they were in, however, an old styled home in the middle of a forest; I could not make much out, the light was fading. I Slept.
I woke to the sound of a man singing, I slept underneath a tree last evening, and I felt every bit of it. Sleep came off my eyes and I saw it was a large forest, it was speechless in some parts with the sun gleaming into a couple of open parts with a creek passing by and flowers blooming. That speechlessness could turn into a nightmare if looking into areas that were dark: these areas were dark as a tunnel that had no end nor beginning, no grass, no life in these parts. It sent shivers down me back as I walked through the forest following the sound of the singing. As I came up to the man, I heard the song:
Hey dol! Merry dol! Ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! Hop along! Fal lal the willow!
Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!
Hey dol! Merry dol! Ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! Hop along! Fal lal the willow!
Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!
The sound was very calming and made me want to dance; as I looked around this became a near memory as the trees seemed to be closing in on me closer and closer, until… Boom! Crrrack! It was a branch. It fell right beside me. I ran, ran until I could no more. I thought to myself: What will Gandalf now do to me knowing I have abandoned his mission, I could not stay here, I had to make it back to Hobbiton...
