Adapting 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'

Dorian Gray was sitting at lunch with his legs up on the side of the table at the same time Basil Hallward was escorted into the room.

“Dorian, what were you thinking? Standing outside of the bank you just finished robbing?” Basil said with a sound of deep concern.

“I am professional at my craft… you should understand that by now.” Dorian exclaimed.

“Craft? You are calling a blatant crime your ‘craft’? What has happened to you my dearest Dorian? From the day I met you I thought you were a golden child, but I appear to have been mistaken.”

“Basil, I would’ve loved it if you helped me!” said Dorian, with a maniacal laugh. “I went to the opera after and met Lady Gwendolen, Harry’s sister. Lovely lady. Please, Basil, I don’t want to hear about such horrid things, if one doesn’t talk about it, than it has never happened.” explained Dorian.

“You went to the Opera? You went to the Opera…after robbing a bank? Not only that, but the woman who you love dearest is lying dead in some sordid lodging?” said Basil with immense amounts of emotion.

“Enough! I won’t hear it!” Shouted Dorian as he swung his legs of of the table like he was ready to pounce. “That is only but past now, nothing more. I want to create pleasure as easily as I feel sorrow, I do not want to dwell on something so painful.”

“Dorian…I am disgusted, what has happened to you. I remember your cheerful smile walking into my studio, ready to have your picture painted, but now, now you are some sort of heartless creature. Dorian you must realize how you sound.” Basil said with a slight whimper.

“Everyone changes, Basil. You only taught me to be in vain!”

“I shall be punished than, someday. You can not blame me for influencing you to commit such- such heinous crimes, especially ones of the degree you do! Harry is the one who has been influencing you! I can see it, and you know that it is true!” declared Basil, with force as strong as an Ox.

“If I am such a problem, Basil, what do you want from me? Because I do not know.”

“ I want the Dorian Gray I used to know…”
