Adapting A Christmas Carol

Writer's picture: It'sMyBlyth It'sMyBlyth

Scrooge still wanted nothing to do with Christmas, nothing at all. The thought of Christmas still annoyed and bothered Scrooge. The idea of people enjoying their time and having fun causes Scrooge’s hatred for Christmas to become unbelievably dominant in his personality, to the extent of it taking him over and always becoming a new man during that time of year.

After the spirits have visited Scrooge, their goal was to change Scrooge’s mentality about Christmas and to try and make him enjoy the holiday instead of hating it and becoming miserable about it. Once they went to Scrooge and talked to him to “snap out of it” something came out of Scrooge. Scrooge was seen being disruptively shaken over and over and running all over the place as if he was having a seizure. As the ghosts came closer and closer and closer towards Scrooge they began to chant.

The chant was very loud and causes an earthquake like feeling in the house that causes the roof to crack and the windows to shatter. As the chant grows louder and louder it causes a spirit to come out of Scrooge’s mouth. But it was not an ordinary spirit - it wasn't white like the others - the spirit was black. Fully black with eyes red like the blood of his enemy’s. His voice was much deeper than ours - it sounded very sinister -  Now it was understood why Scrooge hates Christmas…

Scrooge didn’t hate Christmas, in fact, he loved Christmas. But the spirit inside of Scrooge made it seem as if Scrooge was the one that was negative and hated everything about Christmas. Once the spirit was gone out of Scrooge, Scrooge woke up smiling, understanding what had just happened and realizing that he does not have to hate Christmas anymore. The job of the three spirits was done.
