A Plant-Based Diet is the Way of the Future

Plant-Based: A hated topic, a misunderstood topic, and an overall underrated way of consumption. People believe this diet to be difficult, unsustainable, and outright psychotic for anyone to even consider. Today, this point is going to be proven incorrect; a plant-based diet has not only made me feel the best I have ever felt, but it also ties into ethics and the environment.

Many people are willing to accept the fact that animals suffer on a daily basis, and the difference between a dog and a pig being used for consumption is no different to that of an elephant getting his tusks removed or a shark's fin being sliced off and used in soup. It is simply unethical.

Sure, what we once were to the wild was an animal: living and breathing each and every day to survive to the best of our ability. We discovered fire, and what were once a full set of back teeth that were used to chew on rocks and dirt, which are now considered wisdom teeth. The point I am trying to make is that human beings have evolved to become better, smarter, and yes: the ones at the top of the food chain.

However, we ourselves no longer have to take it upon ourselves to kill an animal in order to survive. The choices in which we make are not based on survival: we can choose whether we want to eat an animal or not. That choice is very powerful. That comes with having a moral conscience. Something these animals are unable to possess (knowing that they are an animal, and are capable of doing so much more than themselves), but that does not mean they do not communicate in their own language.

Any situation where a person feels compassion for animals is a very good thing. When we run over an animal by accident, or see a bird fly into a window, we may feel bad for it. Sadness, pain, and shame. This opinions are all biased if you are taking it upon yourself to consume them. It defeats the whole purpose of feeling anything toward an animal whatsoever. The bottom line is: animals never have a voice to say when they suffer. However, every living thing, from a microscopic insect to a wild boar all feel pain, suffering, sadness, happiness, and love.

I personally believe the human existence is capable of so much. However, we have the ability to make our own decisions and create things. That is a beautiful thing to possess. We no longer need to live in fear of other animals taking over and therefore have the decision of whether or not to kill them for consumption. With this, I truly believe people are smart enough to make their own decisions, but some are always able to be so beneficial not only to the human existence, but to the other animals as well.

I understand this is a controversial topic… but thank you for reading this article.
