3 Best Bands of the Twenty-First Century

Music is important to everyone. It is a way to release from the stressors of the world. It is known that people start forming their own taste in music when they are teens, and it usually stays with them for the rest of their life. For most teens, music is a way to be understood. Me being an angsty teen, I find comfort in music.

I find that bands are popping up left right and centre. Some are quite good, but others are… questionable. I love finding new music. Every band has their own sounds, and I think that the uniqueness of each band gives it life. Here is a list of the best 3 unknown Indi bands of the twenty-first century.

The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood is a band created in 2011. They are an Indie rock band and that is absolutely amazing. The band consists of Jesse Rutherford, Jermey Freedman, Zach Ables, Mikey Margott, and Brandon Alexander Fried. My favourite out of the list, the band was created in Newberry Park, California. They released a new album called ‘Hard to Imagine the Neighbourhood Ever Changing’, but got famous from their song called 'Sweater Weather.’ They have had multiple albums: ‘I Love You’, ‘Formation, Wiped Out’, '#000000 & #FFFFFF’. They also have had many EPs: ‘The Love Collection’, ‘Thank You’, ‘I’m Sorry’, and more. Their sound is very unique. On their album ‘Wiped Out’ hey added an old foggy 90s distortion onto their songs. This gave an older feeling to their music. Something very unique and not often seen done. The style that the Neighbourhood sings is all different. From album to album they change. One of their albums are much more Rap catered, while others are very melodic. However, they still seem keep the same atmosphere throughout their music.

Twenty-one Pilots

This band has only two members: Tyler Joseph, and Josh Dun. They are formerly from Ohio, and have created a name for themselves. After their album ‘Blurry Face’ they blew up on the radio. Everyone was listening to their songs, and from there, the goth and emo look has slowly come back with them. Their previous albums (‘Vessel’, and ‘Regional at Best’) did not get as much attention, but I think they were better than Blurry Face. They also came out with a new album called ‘Trench.’ The geniuses behind the songs and performance decided to make the Blurry face and Trench albums connect. The songs tell of a story of a person struggling with mental health. People on the internet have dived deep into the connection between the two albums. They are making videos on Youtube that connect the albums, and also figure out he full story of the character Twenty-One Pilots sings about. The two albums connect beautifully together, and I personally think that their newest album is the best.

The 1975

The band The 1975 originates in Manchester, England. Members consist of Matty Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald,George Daniel. They are seen as an Indi pop and Rock band, but also have beautiful ballads in their albums. The band actually went under many different names before coming up with The 1975: Me, You Verses Them, Forever Drawing Six, Talkhouse, Bigsleep, and many others. After finding an old book, Matty Healy (the lead vocalist) looked at the date and it said “the 1975.” He thought it was quite odd to put “the” in front of the year, but he liked it. After the management told him that the name was too long, he decided to get it tattooed on him, to keep the name. This band is unlike another because their albums have many songs. Most albums have about 10-15 songs. With their album “I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It” it contains 17 songs, and “The 1975” has 24 songs. Their recent album “Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships” has a different tone than the others albums they have put out. More of an electronic feel, the band till covers topics of sex, love, and fear.

WWOOW. This writing is amazing. I agree with all of the band choices. I think that you could have added a different picture, like the neighbourhood band, but overall it is a very good writing piece. Maybe you could add a couple other bands/artists like Melanie Martinez, Crywank, Lana DelRey. But it is an amazing post that should go viral.
